Trigger Point Injections

Trigger point injections may treat chronic muscle pain related to myofascial trigger points, which are highly sensitive bundles of fibers in tight bands of muscle.

The treatment involves and injecting local anesthetic medication directly into myofascial trigger points. During the procedure, a small needle is used to create micro injuries that stimulate your body’s natural healing processes (like microneedling) and numbing medication is injected directly into the triggers points for almost immediate pain relief.

Pain should continue to improve over the next few hours as the muscles relax. This procedure is most effective when done consistently for 3 weeks then can be done as needed.

The procedure can take 20-30 minutes depending on how many points are being injected. You should be able to resume your normal activities following the procedure.

Occipital Block

Occipital blocks can help relieve migraines and other headaches that arise from the neck. They are a therapeutic pain procedure that involves injecting a local anesthetic in the area around the occipital nerves that are typically involved in headache sensation. The nerves that are blocked only carry sensation the are not involved in motor functions.

The procedure itself takes only a few minutes. After a 30 minute wait period you are free to resume your normal activities, there is no downtime. Most people respond favorably and pain relief can last for several weeks to months.
